Handheld Infrared Detector
Rattler Sees Where Flashlights Can't
Sidewinder Tactical Systems introduces the first
handheld infrared detector with a vibratory feedback system. The
Rattler One is a proprietary state-of-the-art sensor system that
can be used to detect temperature differences at great distances.
As the unit is moved back and forth in a sweeping motion, it acts
like a thermal radar and lets the user know if an object has
entered the field of view of the sensor that is of a different
temperature than the surroundings. When this happens, a vibrating
motor inside begins to vibrate and is accompanied by a visual
light indicator. Equipped with a powerful microprocessor, it will
adjust the intensity of the vibration to reflect the strength of
the temperature difference that has been detected. Even though it
is capable of detecting a wide range of temperature variations,
the Rattler One has been designed to be most sensitive to the
range of temperatures emitted by the human body.
Because the rattler one can provide a signal by
vibrating when a possible subject is located, it doesn’t require
the user to be distracted from maintaining visual surveillance of
an area. Rattler One can be used to scan dark alleys, open fields
or wooded areas for people on the run or hiding while allowing the
user to keep their eyes focused on the surroundings. It can be
used by search and rescue teams for locating injured or
unconscious persons in need of help. Deep in the woods, it can
locate deer or other wildlife that blend in easily with the
surrounding trees
The Rattler One also has a simple programmable
sensitivity feature that allows the user to choose one of four
settings that best suit the current environmental conditions. The
two lower settings are used in relatively close proximity to the
targets such as indoors or in dark alleys. The two most sensitive
settings are used in outdoor situations where long range detection
is desired. With a working range of three to five hundred feet,
depending on environmental conditions, the Rattler One is ideal
for locating elusive subjects in situations where eyesight is
simply not enough.
The housing is constructed of rugged black-anodized aluminum
and high impact Delrin™ for years of reliable service. It also
features a contoured body for a firm, comfortable grip. Operating
from one "C" size battery, its low power consumption
will allow the Rattler One to last up to thirty hours on a single
low-cost battery.
Rattler One has been field-tested and evaluated by many local,
state and federal law enforcement agencies and has brought rave
reviews for its ability to aid officials in locating targets in a
variety of situations.
